HBCUTRAVELERS.COM & UVOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIP

We believe everyone should have the chance to travel and make a difference while they do. The cost of a volunteer abroad experience sometimes prevents students from participating. We want to help!

This $2000 volunteer scholarship will cover the price of a volunteer placement in Cost Rica (including housing fees and meals) for one hardworking student. The selected student will win a 2 or 3 week volunteer placement to start on the 29th of July. PLUS, we’ve included an airfare voucher to help you get there. We only ask for one thing in return: a video showing us how you’ve made a difference in your community.

The volunteer scholarship is open to African American students ages 18+. Winners will get to record a video and blog about their experiences while in Costa Rica. Click here to view the experiences of previous volunteers.

  • Submissions will be accepted from April 1, 2016 until June 1, 2016
  • Three finalists will be announced on June 3, 2016
