HBCU Travelers
There are so many factors to travel that contribute to self-development. Everyone who travels abroad comes back with a new perspective! This is especially important for students, because we are right at the beginning of our growth. Travel teaches us beyond the classroom. These days, it's becoming increasingly imperative for us as African American students to break out of our shells, open our minds, and expand our horizons to include the rest of the world.
HBCU Travelers aims to increase the presence of African American students abroad by:
encouraging students to embrace fear and expand their comfort zones;
teaching and informing students about international travel opportunities;
and connecting with peers from around the world to exchange cultural insight.
Not only is this a place where students can learn why and how to travel out the country, but it's also a place for students who HAVE been abroad to share their own stories! Each person tells it differently and we all have a lot to say! Instead of interviewing, we allow students to document their experiences by submitting personal articles centered around motivating others to go abroad. This gives everyone a piece of ownership in the HBCU Travelers community.
